Gong Bathing Meditation

moongong-july-fb.jpg

19 JULY ‘19 | 7.30PM – 8.30PM

A full moon holds different significance across many cultures. For some, it is believed to symbolise the rhythm of time, and in others, it has spiritual and religious significance. To us, it’s a completion of cycle; a time to reflect and re-center. After our phenomenal and sold out last experience with the Gong Bathing Meditation, we’ll be hosting another session this July. Bathing in the moon light, the experience is designed to restore energy fields, rebalance the rebalance the body’s frequencies, and rejuvenate the entire being, while alleviating stress and clearing the mind. This therapeutic experience will induce a theta state where our brainwave frequencies range from 4 to 7 Hz. These frequencies allow our body to relax completely, putting us in the state where energy shifts and deep healing are possible.

About Moon Maiden, Serene:
Serene believes that sound is the medicine of the future. She completed her Gong training at Red Doors Studio in Hong Kong last spring, and since then, she aspires to inspire others to manifest their destinies through meditation and conscious relaxation. Visit https://www.ascendyogatherapy.com/ for more yoga therapy classes.

Ticketed at $20 per participant, and limited to 30 participants.

62506958_2056988847939401_7983826608165224448_n.jpg

Located two hours away from Jakarta is the mountainous town of Cisarua, a haven for refugees escaping war and conflict in the Middle East. The town has always served as a transit point for refugees hoping to reach Australia by sea, but the Australian government has been turning away refugee boats since 2013. Over 14,100 refugees and asylum seekers are now caught in limbo with no place to go, and no means with which to journey home.

In commemoration of #RefugeeAwarenessWeek, we're pleased to welcome journalists Prabhu Silvam and Kenneth Lee, along with residents of the Cisarua refugee committee (who will be Skypeing in directly from Indonesia) to The Moon. Join us on the evening of Friday 21st June for a fund-raising dialogue session where Prabhu and Kenneth will share their personal experiences running the #RefugeesofCisarua initiative, and discuss the power of storytelling as a means of social advocacy.

Tickets are $10 each and all proceeds will go directly to the refugee community in Cisarua.

Event outline:

8pm to 8.30pm: Sharing session with Prabhu and Kenneth

8.30pm: Skype session with refugee families currently residing in Cisarua, Indonesia

Melt & Pour: Soap Making & Essential Oil Basics Workshop

Join Amanda from Shibusa Atelier for another weekend of therapeutic and educational soap making workshops! She ‘ll be sharing the process of making melt and pour soap with soap bases, essential oils, powders and seeds/flowers for texture and colour. The melt and pour soap making technique is safe for both children and adults to use at home, and it's perfect as a fast, handmade and natural gift.

In this workshop, you'll get hands-on practice to produce 2 soaps:

  • 1 x moon soap with bentonite clay, lemon, bergamot and cedarwood essential oil (as pictured)

  • 1 x bar soap with essential oil and topping of your choice provided by us

As a bonus, you'll get to learn some basics on essential oils, its properties and how it can help regulate emotions, sickness and difficult times in the month. Each participant receives a recipe guide, and will get to make 1x 10ml roll-on with essential oils of their choice!

Participants will be required to bring 3 microwaveable containers for melting soap, and another regular container for bringing the soap home.

This time we have a special deal for two, so sign up for a pal or a special someone to get 10% off!

About Amanda:

Amanda is an illustrator and designer that started soapmaking and blending essential oils to alleviate her eczema and sinus issues. It slowly became an obsession and a way to express herself creatively, and introduce skincare in a fun, accessible and easy way to friends.

About Jette & Ilo

Jette is a former stylist and photographer who, after the birth of her daughter in 2018, decided that something within the female wellness industry had to change, specifically menstrual health. She founded ilo as an empowering educator to help girls and boys, women and men understand menstrual health and menstrual cycles. Mainstream sanitary products are loaded with known carcinogens and toxins and have more recently been linked to fertility issues, hormonal problems and endometriosis. On average you'll have your period for 6 days a month, 12 months a year for over 40 years - a very long tie to put does after does of chemicals and known toxins into your body. Jette's company ilo, provides 100% organic cotton sanitary products which are free from chemicals and toxins which means they're safe and non toxic for your body but also 100% biodegradable which means great for the environment as over 100billion sanitary products are thrown away globally each year.

It’s been a phenomenal three months of sharing space with our resident artist, Heue, and in her time at The Moon, she’s created an incredible ten pieces. As her time at The Moon comes to an end, we’re sad to see Sam go but thrilled with what the future has in store for her. Join us this weekend in a celebration of art, life and colors as you learn from Heue how to create your own masterpieces.

You’ll leave the workshop with a creative process journal, a painting of your own, and our custom drink for the show, the Shana. Come in paint ready clothes and with an open heart, and be prepared to make some magic!

While one session is a great introduction to the method, we'd recommend two sessions in order for you to develop a command of the medium. Sign up on our website and we'll see you this weekend!
