Sun and Moon Hatha Flow Series

Description

*Only available as a pair of Sun Hatha and Moon Hatha

Sun Hatha Flow - Wednesday mornings, 9.45am - 11am
Moon Hatha Flow - Thursday evenings, 7.30pm - 9pm

If we break the word “HATHA” down; HA refers to the vitalizing solar energy (SUN) and THA correlates to cooling lunar energy (MOON). By working with asana, pranayama, bandhas (energetic locks) and reflective meditation exercises, we can awaken our most  powerful creative forces and connect to the beauty that lies within. This yoga series focuses on deepening the two energetic forces with two different practices, and aims to  still the chattering of the everyday mind.

What to expect and what's in it for you?

Ever felt rejuvenated from a night’s rest, or a long weekend away? This is the exact state that we are looking to create in Moon practices! Grounded, and calm, yet clear and luminous. This 90-minute Moon practices are slow in pace and intensity, but demands presence and one-pointed focus. A Moon practice focuses primarily on lengthening the exhales, utilizing dynamic movements and long holds, so as to bring us to the present, calm the front of the brain as well as to shift our nervous system. Expect forward folds  and twists.

A completely opposite vibe than Moon, Sun practices are uplifting, revitalizing, and aims at increasing our energy awareness. This 75-minute session focuses on the inhale, breath retention as well as using our Bandhas to intentionally draw in more Prana (life force energy). Expect to go into backbends and lateral postures to aid in building of energy within the body. A word to the wise: you should always bring the cool nature of the Moon with you during such solar practices so as not to overheat the body or mind.

Each session ends with a period of quiet guided reflection, that will help you focus your mind and become more sensitized to your inner workings, energy levels and intuition. Moving and breathing are preparatory exercises to help achieve this state, and over time  help us enter meditation more directly.

If you're someone who is looking for a mellow-paced holistic yoga practice beyond just asanas, learn something new from our Hatha Flow Series! All levels welcome.  Sun practice not suitable for pregnant women.

About the facilitator, Fatin Syahirah

"Yoga has been a big part of my life close to 10 years, and my practice has helped me grow stronger, be more flexible and fearless, on and off the mat. Through my practice, I have learnt to live each moment more mindfully. Trained in movement and performance from Bali and Singapore, I also completed my 200 hour Hatha Vinyasa training with Yoga Mala (SG). I will always be a student of the practice and am deeply grateful for the loving wisdom my teachers have shared with me. In my classes, I love to combine creative sequencing, a spirit of playfulness and a dose of inspiration to help you deepen your practice. I seek to help others thrive in live by nurturing body, mind and soul with yoga, and my hope is that you step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced."
